3D Point Cloud

• Definition: A point cloud is a set of data points in any specific coordinate system. In a three- dimensional coordinate system, these points are usually defined by X, Y, and Z coordinates, and often are intended to represent the external surface of an object.

The below image is of a 3D Point Cloud. Each of the derived points is color matched (by georeferenced photography) to the photos taken of the area. This process is completed in the initial processing of every flight. Every dot on this map is fundamentally a surveyed point.
