New Technology Adaptation to Seismic Surveying


Adapting this technology to provide the highest possible quality seismic survey for any client will be a joint effort between the survey/mapping contractor and the geophysical contractor.

Option 1

  • We will employ the derived high resolution Geo-Tiff to identify structures (i.e. houses, wells), access (i.e. fences, gates, and roads), etc.
  • Client will supply buffer distances to be applied to all applicable features
  • We will preplan all source and receiver points to avoid permit and buffer restrictions
  • Before acquisition starts, PDF’s of each property (with all mapping data and buffers) will be exported and provided to permit agents to give to land owners to sign off that everything is correct and nothing was missed
  • SP1’s (with elevations from DEM), shapefiles, and Ortho Imagery in 2 output qualities (Geo-Tiff of high resolution and low resolution)
  • Client will provide XY coordinates from layout crews positioning to be QC’ed and updated if needed when compared to preplan
  • For redundancy, the averaged positions of the boxes will also be provided to fill in any gaps and as secondary QC of proper geophone position (this needs to be in a *.xls or *.sp1 format)
Option 2
  • We will employ the derived high resolution Geo-Tiff to identify structures (i.e. houses, wells), access (i.e. fences, gates, and roads), etc.

  • We will preplan all source and receiver points to avoid permit and buffer restrictions
  • PDF’s of each property will be output and provided to permit agents to give to land owners to sign off that everything is correct and nothing was missed before acquisition starts
  • SP1’s (with elevations from DEM), shapefiles, and Ortho Imagery in 2 output qualities (Geo-Tiff of high resolution and low resolution)
  • After individual portions of the active spread are laid out, we will re-fly the project and extract the coordinates of the boxes from the aerial image and output in SP1 format
  • As redundancy the averaged positions of the boxes will also be provided to fill in any gaps and as secondary QC of proper geophone position (this needs to be in a *.xls or *.sp1 format)

Optional addition to each option

  • Post Flight after all acquisition has ended
    1. The Post Flight will give all involved parties a before and an after data set to analyze damages (ruts, gates broken, etc.)
    2. The post flight will also give landowners the up-front confidence of knowing that an over documentation of before and after data could allow for quicker and more efficient claims process if any issues arise, providing for easier permitting.
      • This new and greatly improved standard would prove to be a huge advantage for future permitting operations
  • Licensing of aerial and terrain modeling data is available for future development in the respective area of interest
